When background blur works best
Blur Background is useful for portraits, product photos, profile images, thumbnails, and quick social graphics where the subject should stand out. The current browser fallback keeps a central subject area sharper and blurs the surrounding image, which works best when the subject is near the middle of the frame.
Use a lower blur for natural depth and a higher blur when the background is cluttered. If the subject is off-center, crop or reposition the photo first with the Image Cropper. For a completely different scene, use Change Photo Background instead.
Review edges carefully
Because this version uses a simple mask rather than full segmentation, hair, shoulders, hands, and transparent objects may not separate perfectly. Check the preview at normal size and look for blur crossing into the subject. If the image needs precise portrait separation, save this as a draft and finish in a specialist editor.
Background blur can also hide distracting private details in a room, but it is not a secure redaction method. For readable text, faces, addresses, or license plates, use Pixelate Image so the sensitive area is intentionally obscured.
